Week Ten

week 10 mosaic3

Wednesday January 28, 2009 3:37 pm

clockwise from top right

Once again there seems to be a trend this week, as if our lives are syncing up somehow. All of these photos represent spare moments amidst other activity, the moments of real life perhaps, the moments that are unplanned, uncelebrated, and all too often unnoticed. But not on this day, not in this moment.

Aziza ~ catches her daughter in a moment of rest and relief after modeling in her mother’s fairy tale themed photo project

Kristin ~ preps for the ritual nourishing of her family at days end

RC ~ takes in a mug full of sweet pick-me-up while grading papers

Sebrina ~ practices catching water drops as her babes soak in a warm bath, after a windy, snowy, chilly romp outdoors.

Rachel ~ while practicing the mantra, keeps calm and carries on packing for a move from Southern California to Seattle, Washington.

Cory ~ caught herself off guard, had to scramble for her camera when the moment came, and unknowingly snapped a 30 second long shot, producing a truly random moment in time

Week Nine

Thursday January 22, 2009 7:20 pm

It occurs to me that, like Sebrina’s blog theme this week, these photos are all about comfort. On a winter’s evening, with so much going on in the world and in our individual lives, comfort is welcomed, I’m sure, whenever, however, it presents itself.week nine

clockwise from the top right

Rachel ~ watches the news with her husband (something she has not done in years but finally feels optimistic enough to want to know what is happening in the world) while their son seeks a bit of attention, comfort too maybe, from his Daddy.

RC ~ finds busy, crocheting things to do with her nervous and worrisome hands

Kristin ~ finds comfort by candlelight, reveling in a love note sent by a friend. It reads "live. love. be astonished" Gentle reminders we can all appreciate and use.

Aziza ~ seeks out refuge and comfort in the intimacy of her bedroom after a long day Mama-ing four beautiful kids and fighting off a flu.

Sebrina ~ waits for her husband as he bathes and tucks his babes safely into bed for the night, whipping up a bit of warm liquid comfort for them both.

Cory ~ enjoys a delicious cup of warmth and comfort as a topper to her night’s meal.

Cory ~ center~ wandering in her back yard jungle, over run with woody vines and bushes that cast fascinating shadows when the winter sun is mixed with snow.

Rachel ~ bottom ~ an un-photographed moment. It reads...

after being up all night with a vomiting
toddler, and finally getting to go to sleep
around 8 am, Rachel was watching the
eyelid show at 10:42 on New Years day.
Mama-ing isn't a glamours job, or
even a particularly interesting one most
of the time, but it is one of the most
important ones any of us do. Here's to
all the moms out there, the most unsung
heroes of all times. I never knew the strength
you had until I tried to walk in your shoes.
Thank you for forging the way, and giving
me an example of greatness to aspire to.
